Cab Swap Info Needed ...
I have a 65 1/2 ton pickup with a bad cab ...I mean it would be cheaper to replace the hole cab verses fixing it because of the damage and rust ...I have a chance to get a 1965 1ton flatbed for a good price ...Question ??? Would I be able to unbolt and swap the cab onto my pickup with out to much of a hassle ?? Thanks !!

Re: Cab Swap Info Needed ...
I really don't know how much hassle. According to GM, 1/2, 3/4, 1ton, 2 ton trucks all used the same cab. But, I've wondered the same thing. I have my eye on a 2ton with a big back window.

A couple of things to check. The hump in the floor could be different depending on which transmission you have and which the donor has. The other thing that is likely different are the rear cab mounts. The 3/4 ton up used a different mount from the half tons. I don't think either of these would be too difficult to change up.

Cabs are all the same (60-62) (63) (64-66) till you get to the 80 series with a V12 then they extended the cab mounts to fit the engine underneath.

Re: Cab Swap Info Needed ...
the mounts on the frame are different, but the cab and where they bolt on is the same
sounds like an easy switch the 1 ton most likely has the high hump floor, so it should fit whatever tranny the .5 ton has... you will want to look into the vin tag issue. 1) you could keep the 1 ton vin and keep it titled as the 1 ton. 2) switch the .5 ton vin to the 1 ton cab, and don't tell anybody about it...(illegal it think) 3) contact your state bureaurocrats on the proper way to inspect and change your vin.
