Re: My Build Begins!
"You must be at least this tall to ride this ride" - I would love to have a truck big enough to put that sticker on. Great build, biggest Blazer Ive ever seen!

Re: My Build Begins!
update :
had the truck driving around the yard last weekend, sorry no videos,ur just gonna have to believe me. really didnt like the front set up,the 52" springs have too much flex and wrap,no matter how tight i set the bars or even chained the axle in place, the springs just wrap and flex too much, went over everything, tried all i could, but just wasnt happy, wasnt gonna have it. options as i saw it,add upper bars, kinda like a 4link with leaf springs which equals no travel or ride, not acceptable, possible have a custom set of leaves made, would allow less flex, would also allow for shorter front perch to remove some leverage from flexing the springs....acceptable,but custom springs are big$$ and still ride and flex like crap if at all. so......third option, cut off front spring hangers and perches, build me a custom subframe and cradle, and switch to fromt coil spring setup and 4 link. i cant wait to get it done, got some work done this weekend, should prob take me 4-5 weeks to get parts, steel and time to be back on the road.

Re: My Build Begins!
thanks for the offer on the tires, if things work out i will be hitting you up probably in about 365 days, unless i find something close around here . we started milling out the bung fittings for my hyme joints this week...my buddy is doing them on his lunch time..i am getting so impatient it's killing me, i want it sitting on it's own that's all i ask but i know i gotta take time.
what kind of square tubing you useing 2"x2" 1/4" wall?? i would have to say it's the first i have seen it this way. what springs are you going with? keep up the great work, can't wait to see it going!!!!!!!

Re: My Build Begins!
YEP 2X2 1/4" WALL.
ive seen a few done with it. i didntr want to use anything bigger, didnt want the double framed look. it was about 1/2 the cost of dom. my tcase cradle was made from the same stuff,so i kept with the same theme, kinda liked the square look. im not that good with bending tube, didnt wanna spend $$ for experimenting. it will hold,im not worried. as for springs, ive got a set of f350 diesel superduty front springs, they're about 26" tall, however may be too tall for me,im waiting on some 4link brackets to be cut now, then i can finish axle and get springs in and see how it sits. yep, waiting sucks BAD!!!

Re: My Build Begins!
texas huh....looks like i better get to watching the highway
i would think your springs are going to be fine, i have been having those "i wonder if this is going to sit right" feeling also going on in my head with my perches and set up i got going. the math on the paper syas it's all good, just hope i got everything put in right. been wondering if i should of made the front axle brackets lower and the sub frame come down more??? hell who knows just have to get it off the stands and see what happens.......

Re: My Build Begins!
Holy cow! I have checked in on this build from time to time but read it front to back for the first time tonight. More than anything I think I admire your determination. After all the time and hard work you put into those first axles then the front suspension, only to realize you need/want to change it. I would have probably thrown my hands up, sold the blazer, and cried in the corner.
Oh, don't know if you are still looking for a name but...I was going to suggest Blazilla (Blazer + Godzilla) but I think some dude on one of the other sites may already be using that, but I won't tell anybody.

Re: My Build Begins!
critter, the day when i backed it up in the driveway and aimed towards the back field i was grinnin from ear to ear,but not for long, within about an hour i had decided that the setup just wasnt gonna make me happy.and ill have to admit that as i sat and stared at it"done" but not happy with it,on about beers 5-7 there was a point that frustration turned to sadness and anger, thoughts of roasting marshmallows off the burning chassis did pass thru my mind.
but trial and error is what is all about when your trying to do it yourself and learn.and it is amazing how much i have learned how to do since i started this build about 3 years ago. keep checking in,looks like this weekend is gonna be big in the name of progress, everybody keep your fingers crossed for me!

Re: My Build Begins!
Im kinda working on a hydro assist step.
as long as the mud isnt too thick on the tires, you can climb right up the tire and step inside.
