Question windshield washer? on a 63

hey all, bought my first project, 1963 c10 longbox. Just wondering if they ever had a windshield washer? what year did they start that? I'm going through all my wiring, what a mess it was, and was wondering if it's even practical to wire one in. thanks a bunch!

Re: windshield washer? on a 63

I don't know what year they started, but the 60-66 series did offer windshield washers. The deluxe wiper switch has a push button in the center to operate the washer, and the nozzles screw to the cowl and shoot through the cowl vent slots to the windshield. If you're lucky you may still be able to find the nozzles in a wrecking yard. As for the pump, ever since the 1970's I just use a universal aftermarket pump with a momentary switch. The following link shows one brand, there are dozens of others as well:

Most of the factory pumps are part of the wiper motor and syncronize the pump action with the wiper sweep. When they fail, it can be very expensive to sort out. That's why I use the cheap aftermarket type. They're dirt simple to install and I've never had one quit working.
