Re: project: Sofa King Big 71'
over this last weekend i got the rear axle on some stands for mock up and so that i can start flipping the hubs on it. also during the weekend and last night i got to fininshing up the upper rear part of the sub frame. gotta go in and still add some bracing here and there threw out the sub frame. my buddy started making the 16pcs of pipe ends to put my hyme joints in so the 4-link might not be to far off. got to set some of the springs in for mock up, can't wait to get it off the stands and have it sit by itself. may of sold some of my old 4x4 stuff for the price to cover my steering and pinion brake so now i can start shopping for the front/rear steer supplies now. i will probably be ordering this in the next few days: http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?rout...&product_id=49 for my pinion brake

Re: project: Sofa King Big 71'
well last weekend was slow not much work done just worked on more small things. but i got a pic (four link ends for hyme joints) today from my buddy that got me all so one down and 15 to go, just one more small step closer....i just gotta sell some of my old axles and 40'' tall tractor tires/rims and that should get me enough for the hydraulic steering and pinion brakes, so i hope.
all left to do- 1.bung ends---getting worked on 2.rim centers--getting worked on 3.transfer case tranny adaptor 4.hydraulic steering 5.pinion brakes 6. drivelines-i have'em just gotta get it to sit on its own to make to length i'm sure there are other small things but those are the big basics to get it really going......

Re: project: Sofa King Big 71'
i'm looking at this setup http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?rout...&product_id=49 for front and rear. i'm pretty pumped something is finally getting machined out. i'm going to sparks, OK. (http://www.mudstockok.com/) this weekend to let off a little steam drink some beers and watch my buddy tear some stuff up and a guy i have been talking to has a monster truck (HAWGWILD) and said i could jump in with him so i'm pretty jacked about that to...
let me know if he beat the price on the brackets and i can go from there...... thanks for the help.

Re: project: Sofa King Big 71'
little bit of an update........
ordered a new bit to finish the left hand threads and picking it up today. so the guys might be able to bust out the rest of the fittings and that should get me my link bars ready to go on. sold my old axles and rims/tires. so with that $$$ it will help go towrads the hydraulic steering and that leaves me waiting to here back from a guy about all that stuff. weather has been a little soggy and rainy for the last two weeks or so. i also have to flip the center section of the axle (chunk) 180degrees in the rear so the driveline matches up correct in the rear, so i have been looking into all that home work. i also have to get some 3/8" plates to make the "helmet" that goes over the center section for the top center four link to attach to. last but not least i'm getting all the tab ears/gussests' cut out for the four link from a strip of 4" wide x 3/8" thick that is 10' long. overall progress is slow but its not stop......

Re: project: Sofa King Big 71'
thanks, HOPE EVERY ONE HAD A GREAT TURKEY DAY!!!!
since last time.... i'm still doing small things on it and my $$$ for hydraulic steering went mostly to my daily driver because i needed to rebuild the tranny , the shop across the road got a new CNC machine and the flame table that i have been given permission to use hd to be tore down so they could move in the new machine. so here soon it should be back in working order. my bud got all 16total bung fittings done. also got the center chunk rotated and i am about to finish flipping the rear hubs. i am also doing my best at how i did the flip on the chunk and the hubs. i am going to do a thread on it and i will have parts and tips so if it ever comes up you guys will have an idea of what to look forward to.....very easy to do. also went ahead and bought a 4x8 sheet of 3/8" for the rim centers and helmets for the rockwells. But along with hunting, thanksgiving, and family popping up that made me a little busy. also being more pre occupied with hunting this year, that has had most of my time. but i just filled my last tag over the weekend and am pretty much done with the season...can't believe i finished this early, but now the fun begins making a ton of jerky and sausage. ended up getting a 10pt for rifle, 1 doe bow, and beat my 12pt from last year (rifle) with another 12pt (bow) but a lot more mass to the rack and overall weight . so it looks like i gotta get back in the swing of things!!!!!

yeah, yeah, yeah. i know,no wheelies yet. i guess i just cant get myself to floor it and dump the clutch.the truck has performed soooo well in the mud,out playing in the backyard and crushing cars and hasnt broken anything.ive been beating it pretty hard and just would hate to break doin somethin that pointless.i know it sounded like a hell of an idea when it came out,but hindsight and lack of desire to tear the ruck apart are winning the battle. i just finished up my rims for my 67x34x30 goodyear hf4's,theyve got almost 4" deep lugs. should have some pics and maybe some car crushin vids up next week.
