I will be able to lay frame but what is a good cruising height? I tried doing a search but the search function is not working for me. Thanks

Re: What is a good height for frame at ride height?

you dont want to setup your ride height off the frame for these year trucks..

your going to want to set it up off the front suspension crossmember which hangs lower than the frame(unless you Zd the frame or you have a dropmember)

but assumind you have done niether of those modifications, you want to set it up off the crossmember..

and my front crossmember is about
3" off the ground, and that might be 5" on the frame but im not sure.

I ride about 1in off my frame. If you align your tires at your ride height I'd set it right around 5in off something, either your crossmember, or frame depending on your level of setup like said before. I never aligned mine, since I ride low in town and it varies on the hwy.

'Cruising' as in putting around the grounds @ a show, or cruising as in driving around town from here to there?

Around town/on public roadways @ least 4-5" minimum ride height.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Ditto, I set my 88 at 3.5 and drug every time I hit a dip in the road.

Jason - may not be practical but, it's freakin sweet! Sort of depends on your primary cruising plans and how well the road crews in your area keep the azzfalt or railraod tracks- You may want to consider what the PoPo will say?

I'd agree with an alignment at 3-5 off the lowest point - likley the x-member - Happy dragging!

Re: What is a good height for frame at ride height?

I drove my 94 as low as I could, about 1 - 1 1/2" off the ground. It would occasionally skip off the asphalt & I would have to lift a little not to pick up road reflectors. Good shocks will help with keeping it from bouncing off the asphalt when ridin' low.
