Is it supposed to be this way?

I got a set of used rear bumper brackets from Crossy(Dave) and got'em all sanded and painted and installed and they look good.I found the bumper locally and installed it yesterday along with a new front bumper since it had a bent place in it.

The problem is the rear bumper doesn't look right to me.I've got it level as it should be,but the top of the bumper doesn't run parallel to the lower trim on the tail gate and looks strange. In other words the middle of the bumper is higher than the ends. The distance from the lower trim to the top of the bumper at both bed corners is about an inch an a quarter but in the center the measurement is only five eights,so there's an obvious bow up in the center.

This is the chrome type bumper that matches the front.Does anybody else have this type so I can know if mine was stamped properly or not?

Thanks

Tom

Van bumpers are completely different from truck bumpers...they won't even bolt up to truck brackets.

As far as the bumper...maybe it is just an optical illusion...have you actually put a straight edge across the top to verify this?

I think with the tailgate trim running so close to it it might be fooling your eyes.

Can you take some pics for us to look at?

I don't have a digital camera and I didn't lay a straight edge on the bumper but the measurements from the bottom of the lower tailgate trim as mentioned in my first post definitely indicate the center is higher than the ends. It's real obvious when you look at it.Maybe it's supposed to be that way but I don't like it.I was just wondering if they're all like that or is this aftrmarket bumper just stamped wrong,if it is I can get them to replace it,I guess.I've already painted the inside of the bumper so it won' rust, but they would probably discard it anyway.I got it from Keystone here in Mobile.

Thanks

Tom
