Chain for Engine Torque
I am building a street/strip truck with a 496 mark IV block, AFR heads, and plan to squirt N2O. Before I rip the motor mounts out or bust up the block, can someone provide pictures of the most ideal way to chain this BBC?

I dont think a chain will be needed IMO... Urethane mounts will be enough.

Or with (I'd estimate 700-900HP if your building that as a race motor) you should probably use min and front motor plate
Alston makes some decent steel mid platesfor around $50 and a heavy 1/4" 6061 aluminum front motor plate for $130. Probably don't need both but if your transbrake launching that much torque,, I'd at least add a mid plate. [img]

i did it, went from the driver side cylinder head accessory hole to the frame. i put a bolt through the frame with a nut on it, then the chain and another nut.

Make sure you use it as a 'safety net' and no tension on it. I've heard horror stories of a taught chain causing the head to work on the deck and cause both intake and head gasket failures.

yes.
yank the towers and bs mounts off of yours. go to the junk yard and get the towers, mounts and cups from a 73+, lay them on the frame and drill the new holes. if you dont want to drill all new holes you can match them up to the existing ones for the most part, you will need to fudge one nomatter what though. the catch is that it will put your motor and tranny back 1" so you will need to redrill the cross member or just the trany mount. look up trkklr77, he did a pic/write up on it. I w.I would at least buy #8 grade bolts and bolt to the block not the heads,I will make some pics in a few days and post for you.

Ok.... with the plate between the engine and tranny, what special parts are needed due to the plate thickness? A longer tranny shaft, thicker flywheel, or a couple washers and a slinky?
