What rear shocks for 60 2wd?

I have a 1960 2wd shortbed with 2" lowering blocks in the rear and cannot find a part number for the rear shocks on any of the local parts store websites. I can find them for a 66 however. Will these work for me? Thanks.

I don't know the number for the version you need, but don't think the 66's will work. The 60's mount straight to the rear at about a 45 degree uphill angle, while the 63-66 chassis has the shocks mounted conventionally, angling toward the center of the truck.

I see. Do they mount to a pad that is bolted on with the U-bolt to the rear axle also? Maybe I could swap this bracket with a new model and make new upper shock mounts if mine has an inferior design. I will have to find a 64-66 and take a look.

I thought about doing the same thing myself. Perhaps making an upper crossmember out of rectangular tubing and using the lower mounts from a 63-66. The following diagram shows the orientation.

The rear shock mounting is basically the same from '63-'72. The only difference I can think of is the '67-'72's use a slightly dofferent lower bracket. I don't see why you couldn't change a '60 over to the later design. You would of course need to fabricate a upper crossmember.
