Re: BJ Auction in Vegas
Yes, I seen it. I thought you were going to show us the real nice red AD truck, it sold for around 60k. This 91 had a v-6 in it. You can spit, polish, and throw all kinds of $$$$ at a piece of crap, but in the end you still have crap... JMO (and that of the buyers at BJ)http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...&aid=303&pop=0

Re: BJ Auction in Vegas
But, for that kind of money (on the 54) I would have wanted the heater put back in.

Re: BJ Auction in Vegas
I think they might have payed a little to much for the '54. I wouldn't have gone over $30k, but that's just me. You can see that it's missing a cover on the firewall; what else could be missing? That's just what I'm thinking looking at the pix.

Re: BJ Auction in Vegas
I think he paid to much also, but it wasn't my money. Like I said, I would have at leased wanted a heater. I had a friend sell his 54, nice truck for 35k. I would have rather had his truck than the one on BJ, OOO... and he payed a 10% buyers premium.

Re: BJ Auction in Vegas
I think these auctions are ruining the hobby aspect of hot rodding. I used to buy old cars pretty cheap and now some rusted out piece of junk is going for over 10K. It is sad to see a nice car sitting in a field or behind someones house cause the owner thinks he is going to get big money for it. And the reality is that thing will sit there until the weeds grow through the floor boards.

Re: BJ Auction in Vegas
That 2001 Silverado must have cost $50,000 to produce was all I was showing. I cant see anyone paying more than $30,000 for one of our trucks no matter what shape it's in or how customized it is. It gets to a certain point to me with alll the bling, chrome and gadgets that it gets to be too much. Unless the truck is a trailer queen I can't see the use for a nice shiny frame, I'm a more drive'm rain or shine type of guy.
Want to talk about stupid....the Barney Fife Tribute Cruiser went for $105,000, now thats stupid! Last edited by Atomsplitter; 10-10-2009 at 06:01 AM. |

Re: BJ Auction in Vegas
As usual with that auction I saw some good deals and some that went for way more than I thought they should go for.
On another board I read that some guys were buying back their cars and paying the fees because they weren't getting the bids they wanted. I agree that too many people see that and other auction shows and think their rusty chunk of iron in the field is all the sudden worth a small fortune. I even ran into one guy who had a so so do it yourself somewhat restored truck tell me that he could get 40K for it if he took it to Barrett Jackson so that was what he wanted. I didn't have the nerve to tell him that they might not even accept his rig for the aucton let alone get a bid over 10k for it. It's a real good thing that I wasn't at the auction with a sack full of money though as I would have come home with a garage full of cars if I could have got them for close to what they sold for. |
