Try
www.ls1trucks.com,
www.hotrodlane.cc "in their install section"
www.ls1tech.com "most helpful info"

There are a few members on here that have did the swap also. I'm sure someone else will add to this post. You can look up members PCM cobra, Glock35ipsc or search this forum for LS swaps and you will find the info you need. Hope this helps.

Re: any with a 6.0 4l80e 4x4 in older truck

The problem with using a 4L80E and it's transfer case it (if I remember correctly) the front drive shaft comes out on the opposite side compared to a NP203 or NP205.

I'll be installing a 5.3 into my 70 sometime next year. I'm going to use a 700R4 and keep the original NP205. GM makes a flexplate adapter so that there are no issues when using the original transmission, the adapter allows you to use the LS flexplate and bolt it up to the TH350/TH400/700R4/4L60 torque converter.

I do not know for sure if your transfer case would bolt up to the 4L80E. My first though is that no, it wouldn't. But someone might actually make an adapter just for that application. Try pirate4x4.com, there are guys doing these swaps into 4x4's all the time on that site.

4l80 bolts to the np205 and was offered in the the later square bodie crews

and if i did a 5.3 swap id grab the 4l60e with it over the 700 they have the same output shaft and will bolt right in the same spot as a 700 but you get a little stronger trans and ecm controlled
