Picked up a 76 2wd Jimmy

I just pick up a 76 2wd....Found this thing across town. You never see 2wds around here this nice,this cheap. Body wise it needs some work,over all not bad. Its has been sitting in a garage for 10 years. 327,M22 4-speed....It should be fun. It runs and moves with 10yr gas. Very rough...but it runs.

Nice score, it's well worth the money spent. I never see 2wd K-5's of any year around here, let alone that decently priced. On a side note, that engine does not look like it's been sitting untouched for 10years. And it looks like it's already lowered a good bit too.

He rebuilt motor it in 99 and put a few miles on it, started the bodywork and let it sit.

This is my 3rd K5,but my 1st pre 82'. I just realized the bed floor runs up the front seats. This truck don't have a rear seat in it. It has aftermarket carpet,so I haven't looked under to see if there are holes for a rear seat.

Was the rear seat an option? Do all the round eye truck have no foot well area in the back, or did some have it?

Any of the blazer seats should work. I know the 73-85 will and I think it will work up to 91. But not for sure on that one.

I'm in the process of doing just that. However, I'm doing it slightly different than original. I'm raising the seat a little off the floor, closer to the hight of the original '77 seat. This is to provide room for the seat to fold forward, since a flat floor is there. It also gives a little leg room. I can take some pics if you would like to see what I'm doing.

Here is the seat bolted at the front and sitting level.


Here is the seat folded forward, plenty of clearance at the floor.


This is a front shot of one of the spacer blocks I made.


This is a shot from the rear, with the seat folded forward. It's grade 8 hardware, with a large washer under the floor. I use large washers with a rolled edge for everything that bolts to the floor.

For the rear, I will use u-bolts for the seat to latch into. The one pictured is for an Astro van, but I'm going to have some thicker, square-ended u-bolts custom bent to use instead. I'm going to weld washers to them to set the correct hight, then bot them down tight from underneath.


Here's a shot of my Suburban that I added in the rear seat, please excuse the dirty carpet. This is how it would be done in the Blazer if I were keeping the seat low to the floor. The Blazer and Suburban use the same floor hooks.


In this pic, you can see how I added in the floor hooks and bolted down the seatbelts. I cut the floor hooks out of a donor truck, cut holes in my floor big enough to accommodate the pocket, then riveted them in with ten 1/4 rivets on each floor hook. The next time I have the gas tank out, I will probably weld them to the floor pan, and also weld the seatbelt nuts and washers to the floor.
