Sold my truck...It's Going To The Netherlands!
Long story short, sold my truck to a hamb'er in the Netherlands. I didn't quite get what I wanted but still turned a profit. I think it's super cool it's going over there because I know it'll be genuinely appreciated. The Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, and such have a thriving hot rod scene. The quality of the stuff they turn out is awesome. If you're on the hamb like me, you've seen the stuff these guys build. All in all, I hate to see it go, but I am excited my truck will live on and I get to do some serious work and parts buying for my '55.
And as a side story, is it just me or does nobody have any money? I literally got two emails from craigslist after a couple of months. And neither one ended up even coming to see the truck. And it's listed in a major metropolitan area with a population close to a million people with a pretty good price. Besides that, I see incredible deals on the hamb parts board that have gone unsold for months. I know most of us are struggling with the state of the economy, but is it really that bad out there?

Re: Sold my truck...It's Going To The Netherlands!
First of all, congrats on the sale. I get on the HAMB now and then and I see alot of guys from that part of the world on there. You're right, they build some awesome stuff!! I'm sure you're truck will be done right... and "traditional" as they say on the Hamb...
2nd'ly, people are broke right now. People are barely making ends meet. So having the extra $$$ to go out and buy toys is very rare...

I think it is really neat how many of these old rigs are heading to Europe lately. That's a serious appreciation of old iron to pay to have it shipped over and everything.
Second, yeah, everyone here is friggin' broke. I know I'm struggling pretty hard. Prices have gone ever higher on everything while my paycheck has stayed the same size. I've seen some amazing deals on parts and vehicles lately, but like everyone else I don't have the spare money to do anything about it.

Congrats on the sale! I need to check the HAMB out. Like everyone said above, its bad! I'm doing my share of struggling like everyone out there. But look on the bright side, it will get better, one day.

Re: Sold my truck...It's Going To The Netherlands!
Thanks guys. I just got off the phone with the guy. They have a cool club, all traditional style hot rods. It's almost like they do "traditional" better than we do, lol. I see that a lot with the clubs in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, etc..
And short step, if you go on the hamb, don't mention rat rods. There's a lot of old crusty codgers that hate that term and style. It's all about traditional type hot rods and kustoms. Codgers aside, the information there is limitless. The collective experience is mind boggling. It's a great place.

Re: Sold my truck...It's Going To The Netherlands!
Whoever bought it got a really cool truck!
It's one of my favorites on this board. I'm one of the broke ones as well, but that doesn't stop me from haunting craigslist and grabbing the occasional $500.00 beater. I just have to put in a larger proportion of time and elbow grease than cash. I certainly couldn't go out and throw down a few grand on one though, as much as I would like to. What's your next project?

Thanks. I'm really ok with it though. The guy buying it will treat it right, I have no doubt. I still hang around here more than the other forum. There's a lot more going on. I love to see what everybody else is doing. It gives me inspiration.
