Will a 88+ heater motor fit in 87?

I have a few 88+ heater motors and my old 87 is starting to make bad noises(It was -30c last night). Was just wondering if anyone had had this work or not at all.

There were some minor changes in blower motor designs. The only thing you can do it pull them both out and compare the wiring connection and see if one or both has the vent tube. Also the clocking of the vent tube changes too.

A new one is only $20 with a lifetime warranty so it is almost not worth the effort to put in a used one.

I know the 88-up have more speed settings but that has nothing to do with the blower motor. I think high speed is the same on both with minimum resistance going through the fan speed resistor.

I think the 99-up new body style like my 03 Tahoe might have a higher output blower motor or just a more efficient squirrel cage design. It seems to have a very high output on full compared to any of my older rigs.
