Any Olds 5.7 diesels out there in operation?

I know they weren't popular for many reasons, but I'm curious to see if there are any out there running down the road today.

I hate 5.7's as much as the next guy, but if you fix the one or two main probelms they were great. On the other hand, 6.2's are the best diesels ever made in my opinion. Not a single thing wrong with em. Beautiful engines.

I'm not even going to open up the 6.2/6.5 can of worms. Sure, they are decent engines, and LOT'S of people love them, as I'm sure LOT'S of people are about to let me know that, but I work on them almost every day, so I just kind of got a chuckle out of your comment.

Not a 6.2 hater, just an ASE diesel tech, that's all.

Re: Any Olds 5.7 diesels out there in operation?

My brother in law had a brown step side with the 5.7 in it. It ran pretty good and gave good fuel mileage... The truck came with a huge Peterbuilt looking bumper and airhorns on the roof... At least it was brown.

Im pretty sure he meant it as in you dont have to pay out the butt to get it looked at by a mechanic. I love the ECU trucks, they have "on the go" possibilities.

Personally, if I get another square, it's going to have a 6.2.

I guess I've never seen a diesel emblem in the grille like that.
