Old power steering hoses to the new LS Pumps
I had read mentioned that the fitting on the back of our pumps can be removed and screwed into the newer pumps on the LS engines.
This is a better and cheaper alternative to having new lines made, AN fittings etc. Today while at the garage I swapped my old fitting into the newer pump. Just thought I would let some of you know that are doing these swaps and might not know this. |

Re: Old power steering hoses to the new LS Pumps
I think there should be an LS FAQ with this kind of info in it?

Re: Old power steering hoses to the new LS Pumps
I have a 96 5.7 vortec sitting in my frame, with the ps pump and hoses connected. I was wondering if there are fittings available to put in my steering box to make those hoses from the 5.7 hook up. Im not to that point yet, but I'll follow this thread.

Re: Old power steering hoses to the new LS Pumps
Great info, I'm just a few days from getting to that point myself. Been slowed by the snow. Can't pull my 68 out of the way to get my 327 out of the garage to make room to pull the 68 into the garage to put 5.3 in. I'll probably try and find a trashed pump somewhere before I trash a good working assembly that I'll probably want to sell sometime down the road though. Keep the info flowing. What stage are you at in your build by the way?

Re: Old power steering hoses to the new LS Pumps
Found this adapter on ebay.... Think you can use it on pump or box to change to old school compression.

Re: Old power steering hoses to the new LS Pumps
Thanks for info^^ FYI: Back in the 70's the cars and trucks had a different orifice in the pumps. If you want easy steering you use one from a big car like a Cadi... If you want more firm steering the truck one's were smaller orifice and they are interchangeable even on old pumps from late 60's.

Re: Old power steering hoses to the new LS Pumps
Found some info to share on 5.3 swap using TH400.... To hook up vacuum line to tranny modulator there is a factory vacuum port on the passenger side of the intake that is not used. You have to snap off the plastic plug and there is a hose barb fitting to hook your 1/4" vacuum hose!!!
