Rack & Pinion Steering

Has anyone installed rack & pinion setup in a 67-72 truck. I have seen a picture of a crude homemade job online (Hack Job). I am curious if this can be done and done right. Are there any kits or aftermarket parts that would work. I welcome all comments.

That question has been asked many times before. Do a search. Or just buy a dropmember as porterbuilt suggested.

Please explain how my post wasn't polite? I offered advice. He has been a member for 10 months. What qualifies as new?

Re: Rack & Pinion Steering

Wild, I am not offended by your comments, I did do a search (it was a long time ago) but Porterbuilt did not show up in my search. that is why I posted what I did. With all the experience and knowledge here I figured someone has done this before and would be able to help. I have my answer now and can decide if I want to invest in it.

Look here. But, for that price though, I'd do a Dropmember, and a set of control arms, and a set of trailing arms, and a center crossmember and a ton of other stuff. But, the option is there if you want to do just the rack...

When the core of your post is telling him it's been covered many times and to search for himself, it doesn't come across as polite or helpful.

Re: Rack & Pinion Steering

My buddy done the Flaming river rack set up on his 55 car, while it works great three grand is a LOT of cake for what came in the kit!! The cradle is very basic and it took some creative steering linkage routing. I think with all of Nate's talent over at Porterbuilt that he should look into doing a rack conversion set up since not everyone is looking to do a Dropmember.
