58 Cab gas pedal, what are you using?

Hi All,

I have a 58 cab on my 56 Chevy and I need to start looking for a gas pedal soon. I don't have the original and was wondering what you guys are using, original, aftermarket? What works best? I'm running a 350 in the truck so the stock carb set up is gone if that matters.

Thanks,
Sam

I use the original one. The linkage comes in a kit & the pedal has the hinge encassed in rubber & bolts to the floor. I don't like it. Next time I'm going to do like DW says & adapt the later model with a cable.

I was looking at going with a lokar but their prices are a little too high in my opinion. I can't find the original one for my truck so I figured looking at eiher used or adapting is the best bet. Sounds like you guys agree.

Stock 58-59 V8 rod and pivot through the firewall. I tossed the pedal that bolts the floor, just use the rod end it attached to. You can see it in this photo, behind the steering.

If I remember correctly, I'm using a pedal and a cable from a 80s Chevy van.

Which one? It looks like they make a couple different models.

Re: 58 Cab gas pedal, what are you using?

i imagine with a little bit of engineering you could make nearly anything work. i put a camaro motor in my pickup and installed the camaro accelerator. little heat to bend the rod to the right angle and a few bolts to secure it to the floor. if you dont have axcess to a donor car or junk yard i have installed the aftermarket universal ones too, same thing only more$$$$
