Re: gas tank in square short crew
Blazer and Burb tanks fit nice between the rails or you could use some tanks from a shortbed and that should work good as well.

Re: gas tank in square short crew
Is the sender and the pump interchangeable with the sender and pump in the short trucks or the blazer/burbs? mine is a 1991 with the 454.

if you use the blazer/burb tank, no. because of depth differances.

Re: gas tank in square short crew
The 'burb tank will hang down pretty low and be visible fromt he back of the truck. Some folks don't like that. If you don't like that look you can do a custom installation like I did.
See posts no. 8 & 29 in my build thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=363509 First photo below is the 49 chevy passenger style fuel tank, 2nd photo is a Suburban style fuel tank 3rd photo is my truck with roll pan installed, tank can't be seen from rear. |

Re: gas tank in square short crew
How are you going to do the frame?
just going to shorten it, or graft on a short-bed rear section? the reason I ask is I found out the hard way that the DRW hangers locate the leaf springs closer to the frame that the SRW ones do. So if you are shortening the frame, you will either need to swap hangers or move the saddles on the rear axle tubes in-board are you going to keep it 8 lug?

Re: gas tank in square short crew
The plan is to shorten the frame, I can probably round up some hangers without too much trouble.
