One keyhole?
I never noticed it until this weekend until I was moving a extra set AD doors. Why is there a keyhole only on the passenger door?
And second thing, how do you guys lock your trucks? It seems the older I get the less I trust people. |

On the Andy Griffin show, if you watch them they always slide over and get out the pass. side. I guess to stay out of traffic. So if your getting in the same way you got out, them you only need one key hole. My 38 coupe is the same way, and that's the best anser that I could come up with. If some one else has a better anser, I'm all ears.

I have heard it was because men were polite in those days and always opened the passenger door first for their lady then she opened his door from the inside. Who knows.

keep them coming... and a side note, saddening that we have evolved to this not being viable anymore... the most saddening is that you can now not have your truck fully restored to original or it will be ripped off... sad but true...

early vehicles they got out on the passenger side so they could stay clean on the sidewalk and not step in the mud and horse crap in the road

Funny, because then in the 60-66 era, it was the other way around. Only outside door locks on the driver's side.

Even today they're doing it. My 05 and my wife 98 car (Volvo) have provisions for one key only on the drivers door. Not even the rear hatch.
It's electronic too. I liked it when there was one on each side. Cause if one froze, you had a 50 50 chance the other side wasn't

Actually AD truck would not be that easy to slim jim. The driver door, the door relay over centers to lock the mechanism so that the outside handle doesn't work and the pass has no linkages to grab with a jim and turn to unlock. On the later push button handles you are disabling the button not locking the latch. On the push buttons you can swap a locking button into the drivers handle if you want to have the ability to unlock on both sides. I just enjoy the odd looks when I walk up unlock the pass door and slide over. Jay
