Been sittin far too long...

Hey my poor truck has been sitting for about 15 months now and before i drove it there it was sitting in my dad's carport for 12 months the frame is pretty ****ty looking and has some holes. It has been sitting through 2 winters, i can't fix it up cause i am **** broke at the moment........

anybody have some tips for me to try to keep what's left of it from rotting away?? and what to look at before trying to get it on the road?

Re: Been sittin far too long...

I would suggest getting a rust inhibitor and coat anything with any amount of rust on it.

2 good suggestions so far , but if you can't get it on concrete or asphalt , park it on some heavy mil plastic.

Re: Been sittin far too long...

If you cut/thin roofing tar with diesel to like a thin paste so you can put it on with a paint brush it works great to keep rust away i think better than under coating

Re: Been sittin far too long...

Unless you have a deep attachment (such as grandad's old truck), consider selling it whole or parting it. Watching it rust away does nothing for your budget and is overall depressing. Let someone have a chance for resurrecting the truck.
