Anyone have pics of reverse hood hinges?

I'm thinking of reversing the hinges on my project truck.

Re: Anyone have pics of reverse hood hinges?

I've got that type set-up on my 97, Had the same set-up on my 74 before I stripped it for restore.

Had a gust of wind catch my glass hood and stand it straight up off the prop rod during a show and put the cowl scoop through the windshield, I took the hinge set-up for the 74 and put it in the 97.

The hinge assembly is out of a 89 Buick Park Avenue, You also need the cowl gliders off the Buick as well for a easier install on a square body.

I have pics someplace of the re-worked gliders/brackets etc. but have to get to work now, Will post later if your interested.....

Really interested. The main reason I'm wanting to do it is because of a 4 inch cowl.

Re: Anyone have pics of reverse hood hinges?

looks to be a pretty cool mod but it looks like you might have a problem reaching a few areas under the hood so i might think twice about it, but go for it if you like it!!!

He said (Me) "The wind got under the hood with the OLD prop rod"......

I have been to another show at the same location (a open air port taxi strip) with this set up and the hood didn't budge.

What kind of truck did you do this to ? And, I'm sure the BMW set-up was different.....

I was constantly bumping my head and elbows on my hood while working near the back of the engine bay, No more..... Every things wide open to get to with less bending over. The hood isn't in the way of working on the front of the engine either, I just stripped all accessory's and brackets for re-paint/detail.

I performed this mod to my trucks because I wanted something different that nobody in my region and not many on this board have done, And.... Because IMO it's a cool mod.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it !

More pics later, Lunch time is over.....

Re: Anyone have pics of reverse hood hinges?

I have heard those parts would work. I found a local jyard that has them but have not been up there to check on what I may need. Would you happen to have pictures of the parts you had to get and any advice on the install. I am doing the flip hood after I finish my suicide doors. If you want just pm the info so I'm not trying to jack the thread unless heavycheavy87 wants it too.

Re: Anyone have pics of reverse hood hinges?

I want to see someone use the buick hinges to have the hood raise sideways and being in the up position over one of the front tires!

Post up pics when you get it set up !

I'm out of trucks to try it on.....

BTW, There's more room on the driver's side for the hinge assembly....
