Re: What do u like better 2wd OR 4wd Truck?

I can barely justify having a truck at all, let alone having 4x4.... I'd have a 4x4 if I needed it, I've just happened to never need it....yet. But I do have a tractor with a front end loader, so the truck was relieved of it's pulling and heavy hauling duties around the property.

Re: What do u like better 2wd OR 4wd Truck?

i would like to have a stock 2wd and a stock 4x4 and then i could do enything and go enywhere!

but let me also state a 2wd is better for pulling trailers becouse the sit level unlike a 4x4 that gets hunkered down in the rear while pulling

I prefer the 4x4 because of my fishing addiction. I can get to the sweet
holes and catch the fatties.

I'd always preferred 2wd... until I bought my first 4x4! M1009

Re: What do u like better 2wd OR 4wd Truck?

It depends on the trucks configuration to me.
Reg cab Short box = 2wd
Reg cab Long box = 4x4
Reg cab long box dually = 4x4
Crew cab short box = 2wd (This would be a custom obviously)
Crew cab long box = 4x4
Crew cab long box dually = 2wd (I view this set up as a long hual fair weather tow rig)
Suburban or Blazer can go either way to me though if I had one of each;
Blazer = 4x4
Suburban 1/2 ton= 2wd (I see this as a travel vehicle)
Suburban 3/4 or 1 ton = 4x4

It also depends on where you live! I`m geting 20-30cm of snow over the next two days, so my 4x4 is needed. I could and will do most of it in 2wd, but it`s so much easier knowing I just have to pull back on the shifter and I`m in 4x4...

... I've seen plenty of 2wds squatted too, if the load is on the trailer wrong it'll do that, obviously so will overloading. I can't remember the '74 K20 squatted down when dad used the gooseneck trailer, we never had a bumper trailer, so YMMV. I also remember dad used the '74 K20 to pull trucks w/ horse trailers out when they got stuck when we used to horseback ride in the PA mountains, those 2wd guys we're grateful for a 4x4.

Re: What do u like better 2wd OR 4wd Truck?

this truck is my first 2wd and i'll be honest. i miss 4wd. i miss being able to drive along the creek to the good fishing holes, going driving on snowy nights, etc. on another note, i've never needed 4wd when i didn't know i would. i've always known when i was gonna need it.

plain and simple: if you're in a 2wd, you just don't put yourself in a bad situation.

Re: What do u like better 2wd OR 4wd Truck?

4wd lets you go places you shouldn't be, so when you get stuck it takes a bulldozer to get you out. Also it gives you twice as much stuff to maintain and break.
All my years driving 2wd on the farm, all three times I got it stuck 4wd would not have helped. 2wd and limited slip hauled hay, firewood, drywall, scap iron, and my sorry behind. Even today I have 6 trucks and 0 4wd.

Re: What do u like better 2wd OR 4wd Truck?

I love the looks on a slammed/bagged 2wd, but can't justify building one because I've got too many hobbies that put me off road... Mountain bikes, dirt bikes, and camping all have gotten me in sticky situations, but always gotten out fine.

I do still want to build a 2wd desert truck out of a box body, love the fiberglass look on these trucks.

lifted 4wd,i'd rather have it and not need it.had both just like 4wd better.
we have a red lowered 2wd that cruises around its like a 96-00(maybe a little newer) model and it has ruined my youngest daughter (5yrs old)
her "thats the coolest truck ever!" atleast its a chevy.

Re: What do u like better 2wd OR 4wd Truck?

For me 2wd; it allways has been and allways will be 2 wd!

Lowered 2 wheel drive, Then my truck is a toy. not a DD.
Don't like the handling and steering in the 4x4's.
Besides 4x4 have a lot of extra weight.

Around here there's not much use for a 4x4, not much snow in the winter and not much wildlife/nature to go off road.
Offroading has been declared illegal by our government, so you better not get caught.
Only option is taking it to some private 4x4 tracks/grounds if you wanna go play in the mud...

Re: What do u like better 2wd OR 4wd Truck?

The 2wd C10 is amazing in mud until you stop then the weight lets you sink in and then your screwed. I've become partial to 4wd's mostly because they are the only things that will pull me out. the only bad things are a slight mpg difference and wear that occurs on the front even not in 2wd
