Re: lowering the front of a 62.

Drop spindles.. Some say you can put a longer bolt in the torsion bars but that bolt will end up scraping the ground. I have also read pulling out the torsion bar and re inserting it a half turn will get you a little lower but I have not tried that nor can confirm it. Drop spindles of 2.5 and with torsion adjustment its fine for me. If you want to slam it then you should swop out the front crossmember to a later chevy truck.

Re: lowering the front of a 62.

No matter what theres gonna be some work involved. I put the 2&1/2 dropped spindles 6 lug discs. In hind sight wish I would have swapped front crossmembers mainly due to exaust clearance issue and those dumb bolts that hang from the torsion bars.

Re: lowering the front of a 62.

Yeah, the bolts are the worst part.

Look at this pic of my old 60. You can clearly see the bolts hanging really close to the ground under the cab.

Thats with torsions turned as far as can go, bumpstops totally removed, and Toxic Shocks.

It rode really pretty decent, but I drug those bolts constantly....and sometimes if they caught just right on a pothole or speedbump, it was semi-violent...
