help me buy the right piece-turn signal

newbie here- All four of My 66 truck's turn signals all work but I need to hold the turn lever down firmly to keep them blinking left, if I don't then I can hear the relay switch click on/off but no left blinkers light up. If I push the lever up it blinks right, and I dont need to hold it in place. But it doesn't return to normal with either a left or right turn, so do I need a $10 cancelling cam? Or a $95 turn switch? TIA...

Re: help me buy the right piece-turn signal

It's been too many years since I've been inside one of these to remember the pieces exactly, but in the absence of a better answer I'd suggest pulling the steering wheel and taking a look before spending any money. There are several small pieces prone to breakage and I'm not sure this can be diagnosed accurately without visual inspection. Just make sure to disconnect the negative battery cable before pulling the wheel.

It sounds like you need a new switch assembly. http://www.classicparts.com/1964-66-...info/53%2D508/

I did mine last year and it was pretty easy. Just remeber how everything comes apart so you can put it back together correctly.

Make sure you look at the switch before you buy a new one. Mine has what seems to be the original column in it but the wrong year switch.
