sbc swap question

this may be a dumb question.my 61 has a 235 and a 3 on the tree.what will need to be done to put a small block in with that trans??

You will need to change the bellhousing to one from a V8 or an I6. Your truck being a '61 has a hydraulic clutch. Finding a V8 bellhousing that will accept the clutch slave cylinder will not be easy ('60-'62 only). However you can use one designed for a mechanical clutch. '63-'67 has the small center hole ( 4 5/8"), and '68-'72 has the larger hole (5 1/8"). You will just need to either buy a hydraulic conversion or fabricate one yourself. Novak adapters sells the conversion kit. If you cannot find a bellhousing locally let me know.

If you can't find a hyd clutch bell , scarce as hens teeth, but your hyd clutch slave is in good shape you can modify it to fit the left hand opening quite easily , the clutch fork from your 235 bell will work "my" modification works with the stock cylinder
