Ring gears spacers

Purchased a rear end sight unseen because the price was so good but when i got it home and opened it up it,s a posi with 3.90 gears and a ring spacer.I want to change to 4.11 or even 4.56 because of my tire size but I have read that running a spacer is not the smartest thing to do.The truck will be mostly street driven (car cruises and such) and the odd trip to the track.Oh ya the tires are DRs also.Anybody out there runnig spacers on their gears?

Re: Ring gears spacers

I've run them before and had no problems . Some of the cheaper ones have runout problems , seen them as bad as .003 . if the correct longer hardware was installed , the inside diameter where it meets the carrier is correct and the runout is good it will probably be ok . I wouldn't run on if i had the choice , but if the price was right ?
