Here is a link http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=350780&page=5

Frmula505 ran lakes pipes which gives more of a 50's vibe.

I had a set of 4 into one header side pipes back in the 70's on a '77 Nova with a 305. I liked the sound, basically they are just glass pack inserts with no tailpipes.

Re: side pipe exhaust anyone

I put a pair of corvette side pipes on my 62 /283. They had the muffler
built in behind the heat sheild. The sound was the best.......I ran them
until they were totally burned out. The part that was bad was right
behind the front wheel. I replaced that part twice because the road chiping
and salt ate the bend up. I ran on gravel roads at that time alot.

Re: side pipe exhaust anyone

The truck is stock 3/4t, no headers. Just 283v8 2bl, 4sp, 4:56. The best
sound of any of my trucks. After they burn out, I put smittys glass packs
on, just was not the same....

Re: side pipe exhaust anyone

As the pics posted above I put the 50's style Lakers. I couldn't believe they sold an 8" Cherry bomb. It sounds mean as hell. Don't have to worry about them getting any louder (not much glass to burn up LOL)

I heard it in person. Mean is an understatement. The sound that comes from that truck is not for the weak at heart.

what engine does that pickup have? do you think the setup you have there would sound good on a 283 vs 50 inch shielded side pipes?

Re: side pipe exhaust anyone

It has a Mr Goodwrench Vorteck HO 350.

Should sound great in any sbc.
The shielded pipes should have different size inserts (not all of them), so you can choose your rumble.
