looking good.. you should leave it purple!

do you already have the driveshafts? If not you could move the engine to the front position since you are running electric fans..

Thanks Mike. It's actually lavendar.

I have driveshafts already, but I'm not sure that they're original or even correct for that matter. I was considering having some made just to be on the safe side. This may be the deciding factor to have some made. While staring at the engine yesterday moving it to the forward postion did cross my mind. That may be an option still. At least now I know what I've got to work with.

Any new progress on your truck?

Yeah Greg that's what I had in mind. Does that one have an internal coil? The one's I've looked at are crazy expensive though. I may end up notching the firewall.

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

I just picked up a set of green buddy bucket seat covers for $99 on Ebay... made by PUI. I was going with black (and still might) but couldn't beat the price...

That's a good deal on the covers. Too bad they weren't black, huh. My local upholstery shop told me that he could hand sew a set of covers for my seats for about the same price as a set of PUI covers, maybe even a little cheaper according to them. I've never used this shop before, but they have several good references. I'm still undecided at this point. Fortunately, I have plenty of time to decide still.

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

I ended up with short valve covers on mine as it was tight like yours and I was worried with any flex it might rub. Did you check your distributer clearance to the firewall yet? Is this a stick or auto? I made sure I filled every hole in the plenum and firewall I wasnt going to use at this step of the rebuild. looking good, im almost done but yours reminds me of about a year and 1500 hours ago.

I think the valve covers should be ok. I'll know for sure once the cab gets bolted down for the last time. The hei distributor I have had to be taken out before I could get the cab mount holes lined up. It was touching the firewall and had the cab about 1/2" shy or more of lining up with the frame mounts. I'll probably end up running a small cap dizzy and thanks to this board and it's great members (greg65) I should have one soon.

Like you, I'll be shaving the firewall of any extra holes that won't be used when I put it back together.

Do you have any pictures of your truck?

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

I just paid for them... $99 auction plus $30 to ship... an extra $50 for the matching visors...

can't beat the price, we'll see how it matches my paint options...

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

The big brown truck stopped by today. He dropped off the small capped Mallory distributor that Greg (greg65) sent to me to try out to see how much firewall clearance it would give me compared to my Skip White hei dizzy. All I can say is it's night and day difference between the two. I don't have any pics of the large cap dizzy installed because I couldn't get the cab in place with it installed, but here's one with the Mallory installed. It looks like I may be running an external coil now.

Thanks Greg.

If you click on my name you can track down some of the progress, before and almost after pics I have posted. I need to figure out how to set up a link with my name but I've been using my laptop and all my pics are on my home computer.

Matt you're truck is looking good. It's hard to beat the look of rally's on these trucks. Where do you stand now as far as finishing it goes?

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

Got my seat covers and visors in today... I think they look pretty sharp.. especially for $99 and $50 for the visors! Hard to get the light but here is an indoor and outdoor pic. I was planning on a polo green type paint anyway, now I have something to match! i guess i'll stick with the black dash pad for now, or maybe have my buddy smooth it and sell the pad...

rear bumber, glove box, ash tray, rhino line inside of bed, go through my checklist, alignment, dmv to update my registration with the new color, stereo shop and last but not least a car show. I will also be at hot august nights in reno (I will trailer it there from boise).
