window regulators
Can any one help me install window regulators. I spent 4 hours yesterday trying to and just can't get the center bracket in position. The door skin bracket seems like it's preventing the aft window arm from dropping low enough to postion the bracket. There must be a trick or I have the wrong regulator. When I bought this truck I was told it was a 53 (Titled as a 53)with older doors. From everything I've read they appear to be 47-50 doors because of the regulators. Thanks in advance.

Re: window regulators
Thanks Richard. My hairs almost gone but I'm working on removing what's left. I'll check it out and let you know.

Re: window regulators
I'm putting mine in right now... the one thing you will have to check on the door is to see if there is a little section of track welded to the inside of the door shell. It's about 4 3/4" down on the aft end of the door behind where the armrest goes. Doors that have been converted may be missing this short section of track that the bottom arm of the regulator scissor feeds into. The track looks the same as the one bolted to the bottom side of the window, just that it's about 4" long.
I've just converted a pair of 52 doors to a 47 set (alot of work involved) and was something I found and realized when the front of the window failed to level out properly. Really small hands help to position everything for bolting up... thank god my daughter has small ones... lol. Cheers, Ted.

Re: window regulators
Thanks Ted
I'm so close to bolting them in but I'm can't get the last 1/4" for screw line up. The guides are in and it looks so straight forward but... I'm headed back down and try again. I did get a hold of a manual a friend had (pure luck) so that's given me some new found hope. Cheers back at ya Ted. |
