Shannon came over and helped me get a little more done. Worked on getting the bottom cap fabbed up and fan mounted.

Here's the deminsions of the bottom cap



Done and installed



I lined up the fan assy and traced the outside of it then used this big compass to scribe a line 3/4" to the inside.





Cut opening for the fan and drilled the mount holes.





This is far as we got last night. Discovered that the upper radiator hold downs interfer with the front shields that bolt between the radiator support and the headlight mount panel.

Yeah I checked this morning. Surprisingly they were different and even more shocking I did have them in correctly. Which normally if something can be reversed I usually get them reversed. So I had the reverse threads (LH thread) on the Right brake and the conventional (RH thread) on the Left brake.

Back a couple of months ago when I put the brakes together I may have been paying attention but when I read your post it caught my attention b/c I just didn't remember them being threaded differently. Never hurts to double check.

Oh by the way your build thread is awesome and helpful. I've back read up to page 40 or so... like the videos.

Secured the wire



Top cap bent and installed.



The upper clamps are off center because I'm trying to decide which way to install them. I say the one on the right. Assume you spent 5 yrs restoring the truck and keep it for 15 years after that. If you need to spend 8 hrs modifiying things to make it work, that is 0.45% of your time was spent making it the way you feel looks better.

How true.

Here is another fuel neck out of a late model ford super duty. It has a round door just haven't cut the door out of the bed yet. The tube is a lot longer than the one I had.

Hey Alan,

That fan shroud is so nice it makes me want to do mine over, keep the inspiration coming.

I had a tough lower radiator hose situation on my LS swap. I used a stainless tubing 90 degree elbow and two silicone adapters. It looks like you could use one elbow and two straight adapters. Just something to think about.

hey alan i used the left one to mount my radiator
it seemed to work fine
but i bet the other would look cleaner and more professional

It wasn't beginners luck. I was able to make another one exactly the same. My confidence has increased.

I remember the dare.

I moved the mounts to the outer position which brought up another issue I haven't mentioned. The radiator is offset to one side to clear the battery box.



With it being offset caused the fan to be offset. It really doesn't bother me because you have to look straight down on it to really notice. If the battery was relocated then the radiator could be centered. If not the fan could be centered on the engine with some thought.

I know it will bug the crap out of you Alan, but I dont think anyone would even look at it after everything else on your truck.

Once I get my Radiator I'll hit you up for getting a shroud.

You could relocated the battery behind the seat and then center the Radiator. This may also cause you to need to add a second battery behind the other seat for symmetry.

Truthfully I think it looks fine. I just want your build to go on until I can start mine. I really enjoy reading it, and seeing how you handle some of the challenges. At this rate I need you to stretch it at least 2 more years.

Thanks TR, sorry I missed your post earlier. I might have to do something like that. The water pump inlet is 1 3/4" and the radiator is 1 1/2". I will let y'all know.

Stretching it 2 more years shouldn't be a problem. If I work like I worked tonight..............

Is there such a thing as writers block when it comes to working on these old trucks? I get it every no-and-then. I get out to the shop and just sit there and think. My mind gets so busy I can't focus on one thing.

So I took my welder/plasma cart apart to improve it.
