Now I can say I have a 12 second truck.

At the last minute I loaded up the truck and went to the track. It wasent crouded at all so I knew I would get a lot of runs.I still had 110 octane in the tank from the nitrous try last friday so I bumped the timing up to 38 total.First pass 13.10 1.82 60ft . Sec pass try again this time I bring my launch rpm up to 2800 insted of 2000 and it spun the tires. Third pass I lower my shift point to 5600 from 5800 13.05 1.88 60ft ? I think I'm on to something so I lower my shift point again to 5500 on the 4th pass and bingo 12.96 @ 101.82 ye ha!!! So the next pass I dont change a thing and backed it up with a 12.97 @ 101.87
I now have a 12 second truck.

Funny how once she quite building power....it's time to shift!

This was my best with a passenger. I was shifting at 7,700

Re: Now I can say I have a 12 second truck.

Guys I'm so sorry. I was completely farting around last night. I have been battling the flu pretty bad and I think that was the NyQuil talking. That was a Pro Mod slip I found online. I have never and will never own anything that will pull 7's at 182.

My Birth Certificate has my legal name as Ima Wee Todd.

When you look at power curves on dyno runs, when that curve tanks....she tanks fast. Imagine running an NFL drill where they have the rope tighed around the guy while he is sprinting. Now just imagine one little tug. Not only do you slow down, but it takes even more effort to get back to where you were. I can see 200-400 rpms in that fall off part really affecting a thenth or two and you are the proof.

What's impressive to me is that these days, a 396/402 shouldn't even be called a big block. Not when you have 496, 505, 572 etc. Pretty darn cool right there.

I think I was giving the original heads too much credit.

Re: Now I can say I have a 12 second truck.

Nice job. I found that little trick out also end of last year. I stop winding the motor so high and go much faster. Odd how you have to slow down some times to go faster.
Once you get your truck to hook better, what you gain on the small end you will gain on the big end. So you will have an even faster truck once you tune on your launch. Congrats on the 12's

Re: Now I can say I have a 12 second truck.

Where you shifting 5,500 both the 1-2 and the 2-3? I've played around with shifting the 1-2 a little earlier and the 2-3 a little later/vise versa (talking a couple hundred rpms) and some times that works as well to pick up just a touch. Every combo is a little different.
