Re: It ain't over till it's over.
We decided to pull the bed so we can paint frame and the back of the cab also made it easier to run the exhaust
new rear bumper and that didn't work out so well a visitor to the apartment complex ran in to the rear of the truck and pushed it into the car next to it we cut the bumper down to fit like and roll pan cut the front coil springs and move the rear leaf hanger bolts up for a 2/3 drop Last edited by nbpro; 09-22-2010 at 06:46 PM. |

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
Welcome from MI. Nice lookin truck you've got for a budget build. Not that you'll need it now that it's running, but Summit has their own brand carb, I think something like $225 brand new for an out of the box runner. Good luck with the rest of the build

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
thanks. it's been fun doing it. at least on my end. my nephew doesn't think so cause i'm always on his butt about getting things done. but he's learning. and that was the sole purpose of doing this. for him to learn, so he doesn't have to rely on us old folks to do things for him. heck, when he started, he couldn't tell you a 9/16 from a 1/2. he's learned to bondo, prime, disassemble, reassemble, and any kind of semble you can think of, during this process. he sometimes gets mad at me, but then realizes what he's learning. go figure... kids.

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
Nephew's first attempt with real paint. We let him do it on an area that's not gonna show too much. I'm thinking he did pretty good. What do you think?

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
That rollpan/bumper is slick! Best original idea I've ever seen for a rollpan.
I once primed a whole truck with spray bombs in an apartment parking lot, one panel at a time. Every couple days I'd do another panel or fender, didn't turn out half bad...

Re: It ain't over till it's over.
Thanks
Yeah we have a compressor and everything and set up a portable paint booth up out back. Just can't do anything during the week seeing as how the city municipal inspector's office is at the end of our street and they drive by here everyday. So we just put the booth up on Friday everning and take it down Sunday afternoon. Yeah, we had to do something with the bumper to keep from losing the investment. Re: It ain't over till it's over.
Here's our attempt to repair the dash. It came out pretty decent, but we decided to just buy a cover from LMC Truck.
Here's where my nephew was using his artistic talents. |
