Are you talking about H2 wheels or H1?

Re: Humvee wheels (Any Pics?) 73-87

Military HMMWV wheels do not have beadlocks. They are only a steel two piece wheel. The face of the wheels is sealed with a large O-ring. Most are destroyed before being discarded. I personally have destroyed dozens. I am a ten year Air Force Vehicle mechanic. I work on HMMWV's everyday. I would just go for the same look in the aftermarket. I wouldnt even consider using a wheel adapter on a off road vehicle either.

Re: Humvee wheels (Any Pics?) 73-87

I have a 1989 humvee with these wheels on it, but its getting a duramax conversion out of the state and I cant get to the wheels. The wheels are very easy to find. Anyone with pictures?

Obviously these are all military trucks, but may try ColoradoK5.com for more. You would need wheel spacers for the stock axles unless you use dually axles for which the stock hmmwv wheels should fit with no problem. To run them on regular axles they are typically re-centered with the correct offset.

Sure they do, if the run flat is retained. Either the rubber run flat and insert, or the magnesium run flat itself.

You know the difference between a bead lock and a run flat right? It sandwiches and locks the bead of the tire on the rim. The run flat does not lock the bead it only allows driving after you already have a flat tire and only at very low speeds for limited time. The mag run flat is also known to heat up and cause fires when the grease packs on them arent serviced regularly. They discontinued those years back when they quit using Bias ply tires. They are much easier to change out than the rubber run flats. Only 8 bolts/ two pieces and it's out. I will take a few pics from work in a little while.

You do know that when the run flat is inserted into the tire between the beads and the wheels are sandwiched together that it locks the beads. They are often referred to as Double bead locks because of the design they lock both beads. Due to the design the run flat is part of the bead locking system. However in the aftermarket world there are parts available that replace the run flat yet still allow the bead locking to function.

By the way on page 201 of the HMMWV operating manual (TM 9-2320-280-10) it advises to air down the front tires to 12psi and rear to 16psi in sandy conditions. On a vehicle as heavy as a HMMWV do you think they would advise to air down without a some type of bead lock?

Also if there were not beadlock, when the tire did go flat and the vehicle ran on the run flat the beads would come off and potentially get stuck.

Oh and 1 more thing, due to the small outer lip where the tire bead sits a beadlock is required to hold the tire on when running low pressures (ie. Sand as recommended by the -10).

Oh and by the way I was a mechanic in the Army for 8 years so I am not just pulling this crap out of my butt.

I agree. Heres mine.
Also if you want to run stock (non-recentered) ones you either need dually hubs or atleast 2.5 inch wheel spacers. check out trailworthyfab.com for H1 stuff

Re: Humvee wheels (Any Pics?) 73-87

the a-arms are at full extension via airbags. so about a 2 to 3 inch lift in the front. and i had to trim just under an inch off the bottom on the front fender.
