Winch mounting???

Hey all,

I am looking at my blazer as we speak. I am also looking at a new 9,000# winch sitting on the floor of the shop. I am pretty certain that I have the room to fit my winch hidden behind my bumper. Any one here build a mounting plate to hide behind the bumper and tie it directly to the frame?

If so any pics? Give me an idea of how it looks. I have access to a great metal shop, so the tools are all available.

Here is a pic of the front bumper. I am thinking I can build a bracket and run the cable through the pipes dead center.

Re: Winch mounting???

Hey I like the color! (same as mine). Have you considered a front receiver and mounting that way. You could hide the receiver behind the bumper and frame mount it. If you run the wiring to the back you can winch either way you need to.

Considering the loads, I would really beef it up though. This is the route I am going as I inherited a front receiver on mine.

Re: Winch mounting???

Look at this thread about a Hickey Sidewinder from a while back. It mounts in that position, may help to get ideas...
