Hi, new to all of these trucks.
Hi, I just joined he board and am located in Philadelphia. I just bought a 68 GMC 292 1/2 ton longbed 2 wheel drive leaf spring truck that is in pretty good shape metal wise.
I Have a ton of questions that hopefully some f you folks can help me with. I have an 82 GMC half ton parts truck at my disposal that I am trying to see what I can interchange with my 68. I would like to to take the dic brakes off the 82 what will I need to swap, I pretty much assume everything and use 82 style ball joints. Can I use the power steering box off of the 82? IS the rear axle the same dimension as the 68 and would I be able to bolt iit right in? Or is there another rear I could just bolt in. Eventually the 68 is going to have a 402 Big block bolted in so I need some sort of rear that will survive behind that and have a 5 bolt pattern. Any help would be greatly appreciated |

Re: Hi, new to all of these trucks.
Welcome from NW Washington. You will get a better response if you post your question in the suspension section.
I have a 68 Chevy, I used the complete cross member from a 78. I just had to redrill a couple of the side holes. I dont know if the 82 will be much different, but I don't think it would be a problem. Also the power steering gear box bolted right up. It made it pretty easy. Good luck with the project.
