Pulling outer door handles on an 87

How do you get these things off!
I have the door panels off, and the 2 nuts holding them on, but the linkage seems almost impossible to get off unless I rent He Ping Ping to climb in the door and unhook them!

That clip on the linkage is a booger to get off. Here's what I did, After taking off the door latch (3 phillips head bolts) you will have more room to get at the clip with a flathead screwdriver just try push it down.

If those door latch screws are stubborn hit them with a hammer while turning.

I got em off, what a PITA!
I had a body shop friend help with the first one, I just couldn't visualize what it took to get that clip undone.
Once I saw the first one, I made something that made the others WAY easier.
The clip has a hook on the back of it that sets in a hole and keeps it in place. I took some piano wire from the hobby store and bent a U in the end, just enough to get between the door and the backside, pulled it towards me to push that hook out of the hole and then it slides down easy as pie.
