Door Glass Patterns

Does anyone have the patterns for the door glass pieces for a 1951 3100? I'm trying to save some money by having a local glass place cut me some.

Re: Door Glass Patterns

I checked with one of my local glass Co. and the cost to cut glass was twice as much as the aftermarket. The new glass I ordered fit like a glove!!

Funny. I actually got a guy who sent me patterns for the one piece glass years ago. Recently took them to a glass shop and they charged me 15 bucks a side for auto glass and then the same for the two piece of flat windshield glass!

Unfortunately I can't say the fit like a glove though. The windshield has never sealed in the lower outer corners... but the side glass is good!

Re: Door Glass Patterns

I guess it's best if I just order them. May cost more money, but I do want them to fit just right. Thanks guys. You guys are saving me a lot of frustration.

Re: Door Glass Patterns

Ordering doesn't mean they will be right, there have been other threads about poor fitting aftermarket glass. Anyone here have a set out of the doors they can trace and send him? All I have is TF stuff.

Re: Door Glass Patterns

That would really be helpful. I was thinking of trying to get them soon so if someone wants to sell me the patterns, I'd be willing to pay a few bucks. Thanks Orrie.

Re: Door Glass Patterns

I'm not sure if either of my 51 cabs or any of my spare doors has a piece of door glass good enough to get a pattern off. You do have the doors with the vent wings?

Well, I will be breaking down my new vent window doors soon (which are all original), the other doors I had for which I got patterns and glass are junk now, so I could make a pattern then. How soon do you need this?

Re: Door Glass Patterns

That is great news. I'd like to get them cut this week so I can install them on Saturday. Let me know how much it will cost you for the trouble and shipping. My zip is 90810.

I don't want to be the hang up but I'm not sure I will get them torn down this week, my attention will be on the drivetrain but I will try. I will actually get to stay home this weekend, I think, so I could prolly get it done then.

Is that cool?

Re: Door Glass Patterns

Not a problem. I still need to pick up the other pieces other than the glass on Saturday. I have plenty of thing I can do instead. Take your time. I'm just happy to know I'll have it.

Re: Door Glass Patterns

my51 - Hey, I didn't quite make it to the door on Saturday but I am still working on getting there. I had some problems with my 700R4 swap... it is apparently about 2 inches longer than my TH350, for the mounting bolts that is, and now I have to modify the rear mounting holes in the xmember. It never ends!

Re: Door Glass Patterns

That's awesome. I'll email you my address. Let me know how much the shipping and trouble costs and I'll send you a money order. Does yours have the vent wings too?

No charge, glad to do it. I made it out of poster board and will roll it into a sleeve and I'll send it USPS. Mine does have the vents, I have both a pair of '51 and '52 doors.
