SM465 Transmission question.
ok replaced the pressure plate and clutch. got her all back together. She goes into gear but not with out a small "grind". is this normal?
I wouldnt think so, but I have not adjusted the clutch pedal. I simply left it where I found it. Also I have to push the pedal completly to the floor in order to shift. The clutch comes in, at about pedal 75% to the floor, 100% being all the way to the floor. |

Re: SM465 Transmission question.
You need to adj. your clutch. Way too much free play. You should feel your pressure plate at about and inch or two off the top. Should stop your gear grinding also. Unless you're talking about granny. If you go from nuetral to granny, you will usually get a crunch. Just bump second gear first.

Re: SM465 Transmission question.
Thanks for the help. Yes im talking about granny gear. Ive driven 4sps before but this is unusual. pressing the clutch in its nice and stiff until 75% then kind of breaks over. thats when I can work first gear in. Ok I know this is the 129 dollar clutch kit. But wondering if that small "crunch" kinda like an old Oil truck is normal.
Does first gear have a sincro? |

Re: SM465 Transmission question.
first gear is non-sycro. And really don't get used much. It's not like a car 4 speed. For normal driving just take off in second. And when you do want to us granny. Kinda pull it back into second first, then up into first. It'll stop the gears, and won't grind.
