fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
What kind of fuel mileage are yall getting on your blazers? im thinking about picking up a 90 so it has fuel injection. Just was wondering if its going to be much better than my crew cab.

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
My 76 2wd Blazer has a 4:10 rearend and a 700R4 Trans. I can get 700 kms to 100 liters of gas. My father in law gave me this conversion formula for metric to standard; Kilometers divided by liters, multiplied by 2.825. If this is an accurate formula, my blazer gets 19.78 MPG! (highway)

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
Mr. Pops, you really need to refigure and use the return uphill trip as part of your calculations Almost 20 mpg from one of these heavy rigs is unheard of with a 700R4 and stock gears, let alone the 4.10 cogs you're running.

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
Mr. Pops - You are getting 19.78 miles per Imperial gallon.
One US gallon = 0.83 Imperial gallons. 19.78 x 0.83 = 16.4 miles per US gal. Class dismissed. |

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
Hmm, I thought that formula was too good to be true.. haha thanks. Still not bad I guess for a 4200 pound vehicle. (weight according to the highway truck scales)

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
Well my 1ton crewcab 4x4 weighs 6000lbs (according to the truck scales) so I guess you'd have to subtract a transfer case and a front axle and add the weight of a front crossmember..haha ..oh, and minus the dually fenders.. I'd be curious to know what the difference is.

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
Hey guys. I got a 1985 k5 blazer. Wondering if yall have any estimates on mpg. I threw a 350ci (5.7 liter)4 bolt main in mine, edelbrock intake, holley denominator carburetor. Has 3 speed automatic tranzy. have 3.73 gears in the rear end. and estimates? got a lift kit on it too, its a 4-5 inch lift. May try to get a 383 (6 liter) out of a newer suburban/ tahoe w/ 6 speed transmission once i start doing the frame off restoration. Thanks!!!!

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
That sounds like a 10 to 11 mpg truck. If you want better mileage, look at a 5.3 instead of a 6.0 and get the overdrive tranny with it.

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
My average is 9-10 mpg and the best that I've ever gotten was 13mpg on the freeway.. Haven't figured out what gears I'm running but getting ready to swap rears anyway as we start bagging the rear.. Hopefully with the lower gears in the new rear I'll get a little better mileage.

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
I don't have a K/5 Blazer,but I have a K/5 Jimmy . I get 22mpg with 6.2,700r4,4.10,35" tires. Classic big 4wd that gets modern day economy. I love it!

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
Well I want the 6.0 for the torque. I'm not sure just yet though. Just would be nice to have all that giddy up and go in it. And believe it or not, my 3 speed that i got in it has O.D. And ya right now i get about 8 mpg. thanks for the replies guys.

Re: fuel mileage k5 blazer guys?
My '78 Jimmy with 400, th350, np203 and 4.10 gears on 265/75-16's get in the neighborhood of 12 mpg. I try not to calculate it too often as it causes days of depression any time I do. I prefer to check it in smiles per gallon which is much higher
