Sounds like fun! My truck is in a million pieces right now, though.

Re: The Great Critter Revival ‘09
Yeah it's a nice place, I went down there today and cooled off a little. There is a lot more parking along with BBQ pits and a playground up top where the asphalt is. Hell there is even a few truck around in this neighborhood, if they saw all of us parading around we might make some new friends.

Got a torch? Magnesium burns white hot aluminum just melts.
Probably don't want to check it that way, huh? Here's some magnesium wheel info: http://www.roadsters.com/wheels/#Mag Herb |

Re: The Great Critter Revival ‘09
I told you a long time ago that those weren't magnesium, magnesium wheels were what some old school racers used, and they were expensive...the last thing I would call anything on your blazer. Curtis and Dave ran them on their roadster and Camaro in the 60's and 70's.

Re: The Great Critter Revival ‘09
Like I said, I had no idea. I was just going by what the guys at Discount tire, a little local shop, and the parts counter said. I guess all three of these guys were wrong.

Sand them out and buff them up. The aluminum will shine, if it is so

Between the 105+ degree heat, my first son being born a few weeks ago, and me having more projects going at once than I have money, time, and sense for (some of them not truck related) it could be a little while. I have basically everything gathered parts-wise and the shop about halfway done, but rest assured eventually the LQ4-K5 will be finished!

Re: The Great Critter Revival ‘09
Im doing body work for the first time now on my gmc so im not very good yet and I haven't started on any of the hard stuff so ill see how that goes. I here ya with the heat but today was actually pretty nice for a first, and I also have tons of projects that aren't even close to being completed (and nowhere near enough money to complete them)

Re: The Great Critter Revival ‘09
I'm bringing your build back from the dead. After PM'ing the other day about the cool "8-364" badge in your avatar, I had to look you up. I found your build thread. Not only is your truck dark green, but you are bolting-in a 6.0L engine. BTW - my truck is dark green and I would love to stab-in either a LQ9 of L92, complete with updated auto and crawler case.
So, now that I am subscribing, you gotta post some updates. How's the shop? How's the blazer? How's the drivetrain? |

Re: The Great Critter Revival ‘09
It hasn't died...more like hibernating. I've had a lot of setbacks both blazer related and otherwise but progress has never stopped, just slowed down a little. The shop is almost done, just need to finish the insulation and inside walls.
More importantly I have been doing a few things to the blazer in the background, but nothing I'm proud enough to show pics of yet. I will however, show a few pics of the final parts to the drivetrain that I collected. I will start at the front and work my way back with the pics. 1. The 6.0 (you've seen this pic before) 2. The NV4500 complete with LS style bellhousing, ignore the np261 it's long gone now (this is a re-post also) 3. Advanced Adapter nv to round 205 spacer (THIS IS NEW STUFF!) 4. Round Pattern NP205 with 32 spline female input from an 89 1 ton. (Also new and something I'm extremely excited about. ) 5. 14 bolt full floater from a 95 1 ton so the spring perches are already in the correct place, but I might change them anyway due to the pinion angle. I am VERY excited about my drive train! I feel like it will be virtually bulletproof once I get it in the blazer and get all the details worked out.

Re: The Great Critter Revival ‘09
I'm kinda approaching this as "the drive train Chevy SHOULD have built". Hopefully it works out.
I have a lot more working in the background, but maybe those pics will hold you over for a little while till I can get caught up on a few things. Eventually I will get some stuff posted that is REALLY worth seeing.
