Ignition switch question.
Excuse me if I ask dumb questions but I'm new to old Chevy trucks and I don't have easy access to an un-molested 57 to look at. My questions is, when the ignition is in the off position should the key be verticle or turned backward?
My switch has a tab moulded into it and the hole in the dash has a corresponding slot for the tab to fit in. When I install the switch with the tab in the slot the key is turned backward when it's off, like it's in the "Accessory" position. When the ignition is on, the key is verticle. The switch only has on and off positions, no accessory position. Is this normal for a 57 Chevy truck or could this be the wrong switch? it looks correct when compared to pictures in parts catalogs. |

Re: Ignition switch question.
I don't have an original switch to look at, but a pic in the owner's manual shows it vertical when off.

Re: Ignition switch question.
Mine is off in the 10-11 o'clock position and on in the 12/vertical position. Only the two positions on the stock ignition switch.
