Truck won't start

For some reason, my truck stopped starting. It was working a week ago until I sprayed carburetor cleaner and it died in the process even though I was throttling. I am still learning. Anyone have any advice. I recorded a video.. I know. I suck.

Were you spraying carb cleaner down the carb when it was running? Did it back fire? 6 or v8? Start with the basics, getting fuel to carb, carb spraying fuel, spark, check timing (if it back fired might have moved the dist or hurt the timing gear or jumped the timing chain if v8, I had that happen once). Spraying cleaner down the car will lean it way out hopefully not enough to have hurt a valve. Check wiring connections if the engine was rattling around right before it died it might have shook something loose. You can always jump from the battery directly to the coil to see if that is the case. If it has an older holley carb and it back fired you may have blown out the power valve.

before you try to start it, put the choke on a little bit and pump the throttle a couple times. then try to start it.

maybe you flooded the engine?

The shoes comment was funny. I actually told a few people about it already. Anyways, thanks guys for the help. It's a V6 and I was spraying it down the carb. I always hop in my truck as soon as I get home from work and just sit in it and/or start it. LOL.

S-10 conversion? Like the other guys above have said first 2 most important things are fuel and fire, gotta start there before looking at anything else.

I ended up needing new plugs and new wires. I also had to replace my ignition switch. Did I tell you I was a newbie?

No need to, that is a bit obvious.
As Eric72 mentioned the two things you have to have are fuel and fire or spark to the plugs.

The video with the shiny shoes did show a few things and answer some questions though.

It showed that the battery was in good shape and that the starter was working fine. It also showed that the truck was trying to start but not getting the job done.

With the weather starting to get a bit cooler some of these rigs with marginal plugs, wires, cap, rotor or a carb that isn't up to par or a choke that isn't working right to not want to start as well as they did a few weeks ago.

Steve53 had a valid suggestion and point. As a lot of our younger guys grew up learning to drive vehicles with FI the old get in the truck and pump the throttle a couple of times to 1. set the choke and 2. get some fuel mixture in the intake before hitting the key isn't a habit like those of us who have driven rigs with carbs for the past 45 years have.
