small block stands, tpi parts plates and prothane mounts dont work.

small block engine towers along with tpi parts mounting plates and prothane mounts will not bolt a LS motor into place. The single bolt that goes into back of the engine tower will not line up and go into the prothane motor mount, must be the thickness of the tpi mounting plate that is prohibiting this. I've tried 3 different types of mounts and none work. So what works?

How thick are the adapter plates?

The only thing I can think of is to slot the frame so that the motor stands will slide outward.

Do you have any pics showing the problem? How about if you elongate the holes on the tower mounts, would that work?

Its about 1/2" from getting both bolts started the motor sets too high. It won't set down in between both motor stands. What would be the best tool to elongate holes? Thanks guys.

Re: small block stands, tpi parts plates and prothane mounts dont work.

Have you thought about using new original rubber mounts? Maybe the prothane ones you got are a little thicker? I would use a plasma to elongate the holes but if you dont have one you can always drill a hole (same diameter as the stock mounting hole) on top and file the rest of the metal with a file or a small grinding wheel...Just a thought.

Re: small block stands, tpi parts plates and prothane mounts dont work.

I got it. I just slotted the holes in the engine stands and the frame a little. I used an air body saw and a dremel and a file. I slotted all the holes about 1/8" or so and finally got it to set down in between the stands. It was setting too high with the adapter plates and motor mounts. I could get a bolt in 1 side but not the other. I hope this helps someone else.
