Question Another question about my 80 shortbox

I just got the truck last night, late. I went to look it over real good today and noticed there was no visable VIN. Didn't these trucks have the VIN in the driverside dash corner?? If so they put a Blazer dash pad on there because there is no hole for the VIN to show through.

What say you fellas??

Thanks again,

The Title VIN and Glovebox VIN match.

You may have a 73-78 (no VIN hole, they were on the drivers door jamb) pad on your 80...covering it up.

VIN states it is a 1980. The door jam doesn't have any plates. My 2 77 K5 Blazers do!!!

Re: Another question about my 80 shortbox

Re-read my post...I said your 80 might have a 73-78 dashpad on it...covering up the dash VIN. If you pull the pad and find no VIN underneath, and there isn't one on the door jamb (if there is, then the cab was swapped), then you have troubles.

Found a good site; GM no less. Click on the model year of your truck and it'll give you a pdf file of how to interpret each letter/number of your VIN...

http://service.gm.com/dealerworld/vincards/

also about Where would the VIN be on the frame
good luck

Re: Another question about my 80 shortbox

Yeah it is probably an early dashpad on your 80 as mentioned above. If you pull the dash and there is no VIN then the cab is '78 or earlier.
