Talking Choices, Choices.... (Paint Color)

OK fellas. The 6.0 Silverado is drawing near completion. Probably a couple months and she'll be going again. Sooooo, I am going to be starting the CCSB build I got from Chuck this weekend. I really like the way red trucks look but not enough for me to own one. I am going to be media blasting and re-painting the crew cab and just wanted some opinions. I was kinda thinking White just to kinda have the good vs. evil thing going on but I'm not sure. Maybe silver, dk.grey, white, I'm not sure. I would really appreciate your opinions. and if you have pics of one the color you are talking about I would love to see them. Thanks guys!

I like the silver or darker gray. White would look good too, just wouldn't be my first choice.

Re: Choices, Choices.... (Paint Color)

The cyber grey looks cool. I will look into that. Sorry Chuck, the red looks good but just isnt me. I would hate to paint it red and then regret it later. Figure since it's going to get torn down to the frame and start fresh I better make the right choice with the paint!

Yeah, I was thinking about that and I think it would lick on a reg. cab shorty but not so sure on a crew cab 4x4 with 6 inches and 35's??? Just cant picture it.

Re: Choices, Choices.... (Paint Color)

Ford blue flame metallic is a nice color. But a Ford color on a Chevy... I know it's just paint, but seems to me that would make the Chevy an inbred? No, just joking. It is a nice color. Something to think about.

Re: Choices, Choices.... (Paint Color)

I was thinking this color combo for my Blazer. It's my old 2001 F250 Platinum Edition...the leather interior was 2 tone dark grey & light grey too. I loved it, right up until diesel went over $4 a gallon, and it had to go .

Re: Choices, Choices.... (Paint Color)

If you go white, forget normal old code 11, 12, 40 or 50 (normal GM whites). Go with a nice 3 stage white pearl. I love the Toyota code 070 pearl white (08 and 09 years for sure), simply is stunning but has class and an awesome depth. Cadillac had a decent pearl white as well in the 90's. 3 stage paints cost a bit more (not a ton really, just an extra step and an extra base) and are hard to go back and do any repair to, but they sure look nice!

Then again, I love bright red, yellow and orange. GM had a good grey, code 18 from the late 80's on the trucks, loved that color as well even though I'm not a metallic color sorta person. I prefer bright and solid. And sorry, never been a fan of black, I had one once and hated it.

My vote is for red, but you said it's not for you. Well, go for the best shade or pearl of white you like. easy as that, make the decision and move on.......just kidding about that. You should have plenty of time to decide while your working the chassis right? good luck!

Re: Choices, Choices.... (Paint Color)

Not a fan od silvers or greys...boring color that blends in with what feels like a majority of the newer cars/trucks on the road are.

I like two tones, or less than common colors. You can spot those coming down the road from further away than a ho-hum colored vehicle.

Are you putting a 73-80 front end on it? If so, definately factory style two tone!
