I wish I could buy this!

This would be the perfect truck for me.

If only I had the $$ and room for another..

Love That CALIF. sheetmetal!

Gotta love that Calif. sheetmetal! Here in the rustbelt that would have been goobled up by the "cancer" by now and been sitting in some boneyard, what was left.

Wasn't the "Camper Special" an 8 foot bed lengthened by another foot?

I don't think so. I think it just had heavier towing package and heavier leaf springs in the rear for a camper mounted into the bed.

It's a clean truck for sure. Looks like a good version of the one you bought awhile back Jeff.

I think the camper special also always had the brakes assisted by the power steering pump, whatever that was called.

That sure is a nice truck.

Since I have one in my driveway (79), the camper special was just an 8200 GVW truck, it has nifty overload springs in the back and supposedly came with a locker in the rear differential (mine does not seem to work, have not looked into it yet though) it also has some pieces bolted to the cab to tie down the camper. Mine also has a cool extendable bumper on the back so if your camper is longer than the back of the truck you can pull the bumper out so you can still tow stuff (I guess) it sure makes taking the bed off a lot easier :-) It does not have the hydroboost brakes, I'm pretty sure chevy only used that on the diesels where there wasn't any vacuum in the engine. It does have some massive brakes on it though, the rear drums look like they are about 16 inches in diameter, it stops really really good :-)

It doesn't look like that guy is going to get what he wants for it off of ebay, never know though, that is a damn nice truck, I'd pay 5 grand for it if I had it. I've got $2500 invested in mine right now and I only paid $400 for the truck an

Oh yeah and as for the 8 1/2 foot bed thing, Chevy did that on some trucks from 67-72 they were called longhorns, my Stepfather has one. A guy on the 67-72 forum has a very very nice blue one.

Not going to repeat what has already been said. My best friends dad has a '75 Camper Special. They were 3/4T trucks. The bumper thing was pretty cool too.

I'm not sure about all models that had it, but it is standard on 35 series, gas or diesel. GM is finally realizing how well the hydro-boost works. They are using it on the 99-03 6.0 powered trucks.

My 1500HD has hydr-boost, and it is awesome. My wifes 03 Denali XL uses it too. There is night and day difference between the brakes on the Denali, and her 01 Yukon XL...
