1970 bed question

I was wondering while I have the bed off my 70 CST C/10 swb this winter to start restoring the truck and replace one cab corner, is there only reason why I can not change my metal bed floor to a wood bed floor. The bed has two small hole in it that I have to fix, could the floor be cut out and wood and strips be installed. I already have new wheel wells for the truck. My 72 lwb has a metal bed and I would just like the 70 to have a wood bed. Is this something that can be done, or leave it alone and fix the two rust spots.

you can take the floor out and instal a wood bed kit.

as far as the labor and work to install a wood bed floor it's not bad at all NOW THE PRICE $$ OF ALL THE PART's is another matter , that is the one thing I don't like about my 67 and would change mine if I had the part's ,,,,,,,,,,,

Thanks, I figured it could be done. Since the bed is off and the wheel wells are coming out it seems like a good time to tackle it.

Who did you find to have the best prices for the wood bed kit.

you could make your own wood kit for your bed and just buy the metal strips& hardware & save a lot of$$$ the machining on the lumber isn't that bad for the home shop wood worker with simple tools. table saw, drill, sand paper. the lumber in red oak here in cali anyway would run you$3.25 a board foot(12"x12"x13/16") thats about $185.00 in lumber for a long bed by my estimate. its all about how you want to spend your time&money hope this helps. cheers, Pat
