Hood Adjustment question
I have read the posts and printed out the steps to adjust and align the hood. I am working through the process. However, I have a question. The body lines on my hood next to the cowl is pretty good, except the driver side is kicked out from the body about 1/4 - 3/8". Is there any good way to get this to fit better? The passenger side looks perfect. I tried shimming the passenger side hoping it would bring the driver side in some, but did not seem to help. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Hood Adjustment question
Do you have any pictures of the misalignment?
I believe the bracket under the hood near the cowl can be shimmed. |

Re: Hood Adjustment question
Don't have any pictures right now, I can take some. I am just putting on the fenders and know this is going to be a PIA from what all I have read. It would help if the spring hinge did not push up on the hood. But the main problem is the side of the hood sticks out from the side of the truck. I have looked at a lot of these trucks and never really found one that was perfect. Seems like they all have some issues with alignment.

Re: Hood Adjustment question
cut the hood.
the hoods fit like crap so you can modify the cab or cut the hood to make it fit right. |

Re: Hood Adjustment question
Not sure if you're doing an S10 swap or not, but one of the big things on mine that I found was an issue was the rake of the cab. Either the hood will not drop enough in the front to close up that gap, or the rake of the cab is too far forward. Just a thought and something I worked in before I rewelded my cab mounts... check you body mounts in the front end of the cab, you may need to shim them about 1/4 - 3/8"... even if it's only on one side...
Cheers, Ted.
