I don't think I would have done it...that truck was in great shape. I would turn an $8,000 truck into an $800 one. LOL

You mean to tell me it only takes 9 minutes to cut a longbed into a shortbed?

Man that was easy, hell my back doesn't even hurt!

That would be a matter of opinion and mine is that the guy very skillfully turned a nice truck into one with a lot more visual appeal.

I agree, HE did do a great job, but I would have made a hot mess out of it...Replacing door bottoms and floor pans is about the extent of my welding/fab skills

Here's a quick tip to make your long bed to short bed conversion go much faster: Unbolt your bed and remove from frame. Call me. I'll come pick it up and give you a couple hundred cash to go find yourself a new shortbed. Only works with a fleetside bed though.

I haven't decided for sure if a new bed is the way to go with mine yet or not. When you look at my build pictures, especially the latest bunch with the truck shown up in the air. you can really see some of the damage I am dealing with. All in all there really isn't a 12" spot anywhere on mine without some kind of dent or crease. I just need to decide if I want to do that much work or not. I do have a soft spot for long beds though, and kinda cringe when I see them cut up. To each his own I know, it's just me and to me a truck is not a truck without an 8 foot bed. I'm just weird.

Re: For anyone plnning on cutting down a LWB to a SWB

the gentleman who did the shortening job has some serious skills and knowledge, the shortening of the frame was done exactly the way it should be done, but I did not see internal plates or additional inside U channel added. I may have skipped something but did he cut the rear frame also ?? it does have to be shortened........I know how much work this is and he really did a nice job on all of the project. Kieth
