Driver Door Power window stuck up
I have a 1990 Suburban, and the drivers power window is not working. I took the panel off, and when I operate the switch I hear a slight click comming from the motor. I suspect the motor is seized. So according to the shop manual I have to replace the motor I have to get the glass out. Not a problem if I could get the window down. So now I am stuck... Any idea on getting the window out?

Re: Driver Door Power window stuck up
I am not sure about removing glass first because if it wont move you cant acess the slots for removal, but you should be able to remove the motor (3 13mm bolts) first then be able to do whats needed.
Seems like you could fix it w/o removing glass imho but not positive. Last edited by HOGDADDY; 11-19-2010 at 07:33 PM. |

Re: Driver Door Power window stuck up
disconnect the linkage between the regulator and the motor, that should free things up a little.

Re: Driver Door Power window stuck up
I got it out. I had all the bolts but one out. After that, and some careful wiggling I was able to pop to window out. After that I got the regulator and motor out. Good thing I had the service manual, or I don't know what would have happened with the spring. Drilled a hole and put a screw in to hold it, no problems!
Off to the pick and pull tomorrow to see if I can fond a new motor. Last edited by Frozen1010; 11-19-2010 at 09:58 PM. |

Re: Driver Door Power window stuck up
Well my trip to the pick and pull was a good one. There was a mostly intact 89 4x4 1500 GMC SLT suburban. Got both passenger and drivers window regulators and motors. as well as a wiper motor (another issue I am having is the wipers will not turn off or park). Wiper motor works, but was not the problem, I suspect the switch on the steering column. I am going to try out door window motors today. I may have an extra if both work.
